Information about the Company

The Library Volunteer Fire Company Website

The fire company was organized in October 1939 and was comprised of 21 firefighters and one truck housed at the corner of Brownsville and Library Road. Presently the company is located at 6581 Library Road and houses the following vehicles: 2005 Pierce Rescue/Pumper, 2005 Chevy Suburban used as command vehicle, a 1999 Pierce Pumper, a 1997 Dodge 4x4 used as a squad vehicle and a 1996 Crown Victorian squad car.

The Fire Company now has a total roster of 28 members and we also have a Junior Firefighter Program. Currently there are 5 members enrolled in the Junior Firefighter Program. Our firefighters are all trained professionals and are capable of handling any situation that they may be put in. While the company’s main function is to protect the citizens and their property, we also provide a wide range of services to the community such as fire prevention accident extrications, Fire Company visits and home safety inspections. In June of 2006, the Library Volunteer Fire Company changed their status to a combination Fire Company. They currently staff a daytime Firefighter/Driver from 07:30-16:30 hrs. All costs associated with this staffing are paid for through the Library Volunteer Fire Company.

The Fire Company’s main sources of income are an annual collection drive and two weekly bingos. One bingo is every Wednesday evening beginning at 7:15pm and one is every Sunday afternoon at beginning at 1:45pm. We also rent a newly renovated social hall which seats approximately 400 people.
